Best Overall Family Physical Exercise

When we moved here in 2002, the Waterdown/Flamborough YMCA was a fairly new building.    Built in 2001, the facility has already gone through one major renovation last year and is well kept all year long with regular painting and maintenance throughout the facility inside and out.

There are activities for everyone there, from newborn to senior citizen.   There is swimming lessons, recreational swimming, aquafit classes (and other aqua classes geared towards seniors), a fantastic gym facility upstairs with the greatest motorized equipment and strength training available, fitness classes for every level, social programming for toddler to teen, daycare facilities and daycamp facilities for the summer.

I am grateful for the YMCA every summer for their Y Kids programming every Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday which help keep my kids from summertime boredom.

The rates are fairly reasonable and if you take full advantage of all they offer, you more than get your money's worth.   For families that might have difficulty paying for their fees, they also have a charitable program called Strong Kids which provides assistance to families so that their children can take part in all activities available at the facility.
